The Office of Los Angeles Mayor-elect Karen Bass announced that she will be sworn in as the 43rd Mayor of Los Angeles by Vice President Kamala Harris at the inauguration ceremony on Sunday, December 11.
Madame Kamala Harris who is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated is the first woman and first woman of color to ever serve as Vice President of the United States. Karen Bass who is a member of Delta Sigma Theta will be the first woman and woman of color to serve as Mayor of Los Angeles.
The inauguration will be held in front of City Hall’s historic Spring Street entrance. Doors will open at 11:30 a.m. Mayor-elect Bass’ term as Mayor begins on Monday, December 12. She is holding her inaugural ceremony on Sunday to make it easier for Angelenos to attend and to ensure her first day as mayor is dedicated to bringing unhoused Angelenos inside and making our city safer and more livable for all.
